We have lots of big dogs looking for their chance to shine, and we frequently find ourselves over capacity with dogs who need our help. That’s why partnerships with amazing rescues like HALO Animal Rescue in Phoenix are so important. By sending dogs to places with higher demand for large breeds, we give them a better chance to find a home more quickly. These transports don’t just help the dogs leaving—they help the dogs still waiting here, too. Every pup who moves on creates space and attention

🎬 Meet Ember! Our longest resident is finally ready to trade kennel life for car rides, hikes, and her very own cozy couch. 🐾 She’s a high-energy pit bull mix who knows her basic commands and loves adventure, but she needs a little time to settle in and meet new people. Once she’s comfy, her sweet, goofy personality will melt your heart! ❤️ After her zoomies, Ember will probably turn into a certified couch potato, happy to snuggle up for some well-earned naps. She’s best as the only pet (no ca

Saving one dog won’t change the world — but for that one dog, the world is changed forever. 🐾 Fostering isn’t just giving a temporary home — it’s changing lives. Lela, one of our angel fosters, says opening her home to foster dogs has changed her life forever. Each pup brought love, joy, and unforgettable moments into her home. If you can’t adopt, fostering is a beautiful way to make a difference. You provide love, care, and a safe space while helping them get ready for their forever homes. Rea

Big Dogs, Bigger Hearts—but Facing Bigger Challenges! 🐾💖 🐕✨ Large dogs often wait longer in shelters, not because they lack love, but because of misconceptions and housing restrictions. Many believe that a big dog needs a large yard or that apartment living isn't an option, but these gentle giants can thrive in any loving home. This weekend, at the Clear the Shelters event at Palm Springs Animal Shelter, we’re highlighting these incredible dogs. Their hearts are as big as their size, ready to

Meet Zachary! 🐾 Zachary is a handsome, large mixed-breed boy who’s a total pro on leash — calm, easygoing, and a joy to walk. He’s polite around other dogs while out and about, but would prefer to be the only pup at home so he can soak up all the love for himself. He’s looking for a patient adopter who’ll give him time to build trust. Once he feels safe, his sweet, affectionate side shines and he becomes a loyal, cuddly companion. ✨ 4-year-old mixed breed ✨ Appears housetrained ✨ Great on leash

While she may not let you pet her right away, she's very affectionate with those she knows and trusts. If you're a patient person looking for a beautiful fun and playful companion, consider Aria. She is available in foster care. She’s also house-trained and gets along well with other dogs. | Palm Springs Animal Shelter

People often ask how so many of the fearful and challenging dogs that come to us are rehabilitated. TLC is a key program developed by volunteer extraordinaire, Sharon Stevens with Dog Enrichment and Behavior Specialist, Staff member, Manuel GyRo Guerra where staff and volunteers do everything from reading to the dogs, playing, loving, interacting with them and providing new experiences. We can't thank Sharon enough for this program and if you love dogs, come volunteer and try the program out! |
